Sunday May 2nd
11am – 1.30pm EST

Join us for a conversation and workshop addressing current and future archaeological pedagogies. Our plenary speakers bring perspectives from Education and Black and Indigenous Studies into conversation with Archaeology. Our speakers will discuss the work they have done to decolonize the syllabus, rethink curricula and develop inclusive teaching strategies We will consider how insights from Education could be brought into archaeological teaching, including lab and field based contexts.

Follow up workshop: The plenary panel will be followed by a 90-minute workshop broken up into moderated groups when we’ll reflect on the plenary panel and discuss archaeological teaching practices. We will ask participants to share how they organize their curricula, suggest specific readings, and outline any changes they have made and how they imagine going forward, with a particular focus on rethinking introductory archaeology courses.

Please register for TAG Stanford at this link (registration is free; to volunteer to facilitate a workshop group please contact archaeology@columbia.edu).
