Jeiran Jahani is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Art History and Archaeology at Columbia University. Her research focuses on the natural philosophy and representations of animals and plants from southwestern Iran and southern Iraq during the fourth and third millennia BC. Her other interests include historiography, application of statistical data analysis tools to studies of ancient texts and archaeological data, and cognitive theories to understand aesthetic affect.
