Eric is a PhD student in the department of Art History and Archaeology, where he studies the arts of the indigenous Americas broadly. His research focuses on semiotics, theories of visuality, and materiality. His undergraduate honors thesis focused on a jade Olmec figurine, and analyzed how iconographic symbols incised on the figurine enhanced the preciousness of the jade’s material surface. Eric graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA with a B.A. in Art History and a minor in Spanish.
