Abstract
The relationship of communities to their museums has been altered and modified drastically during recent years in Greece, mainly, as a result of the financial crisis and its consequences upon the Greek society. Decades of poor administration on behalf of the Ministry of Culture has resulted in building too many museums of which the majority are crudely designed and organized. This difficult situation could be minimized by the use of new technologies that can assist us in producing an online museum, where a neglected and underrepresented exhibit, human remains, will be its thematic and will highlight the evolution of funeral customs and practices in time and space, while at the same time improving the visitors’ experience.

Biography: Eleonora Semelidou holds a BA in Archaeology from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a MA in Aegean Prehistory from University of Liverpool, a MSc in Museum Studies from University of Leicester and a MSc in Environmental Hazards and Risks (to be submitted in December 2021) from the Hellenic Mediterranean University. She is currently studying towards a doctorate in geo-archaeology at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. Her research interests focus on burial customs and practices in LM Crete, human remains, their analysis and interpretation, geoinformatics and the connection between environment and humans in prehistory.
