Professor Jessica Lamont (Yale, Classics) will be on campus to discuss her new book In Blood and Ashes: Curse Tablets and Binding Spells in Ancient Greece (Oxford UP, 2023) on Friday, October 6, 11:00-1:00, Room 509 Hamilton Hall.

This in-person event has an author-meets-readers format. We are circulating in advance two chapters: “Introduction: Magic and Curses in Ancient Greece” and “In Blood and Ashes: Curse Tablets and Binding Spells” to prepare for the conversation. To receive the precirculated chapters please get in touch with Lauren Palmer (lp3011@columbia.edu).

After an introduction by Prof. Sailakshmi Ramgopal (CU Department of History), Prof. Lamont will discuss her book, engage in dialogue with Giovanni Lovisetto (CLST), and answer questions from attendees in a seminar-style format.
